Biographical / Historical
The main scientific and administrative building at Roslin was built in 1981 to house PRC staff who had relocated from the King's Buildings site. When PRC and ABRO amalgamated in 1986 to form IAPGR-ERS, it was planned that ex-ABRO staff located at King's Buildings would move onto the Roslin site in 1989. Architects drew up plans to house three ex-ABRO departments (Molecular Genetics, Biometrical Genetics and Immunogenetics) at Roslin - these consisted of adding two further wings to the Roslin building. Although this extension did not ultimately take place, ex-ABRO staff proceeded to move from King's Buildings to Roslin - to accommodate them, a temporary building (the Terrapin) was rented.
