The EBRC proposed 'to strengthen a cluster of scientific excellence in animal bioscience research amongst five institutes in the Edinburgh area'. These were the Moredun Research Institute, the Neuropathogenesis Unit of the Institute for Animal Health, Roslin Institute, the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Science and the Scottish Agricultural College.
