This is a letter written by William Ashby from Elizabeth I, Queen of England to James VI, King of Scotland with offers of: A Duchie; a yearly pension; fifty gentleman guards; and a hundred horsemen and a hundred footmen.

This is a discourse of the Battle of Belrinnes, also known as the Battle of Glenlivet. It was fought on 3 October 1594 near Allanreid and Morinsh in Scotland by the Catholic forces of George Gordon, 1st Marquess of Huntly and Francis Hay, 9th Earl of Erroll, who were victorious over the Protestant forces of Archibald Campbell, 7th Earl of Argyll.

This paper consists of a closely written sheet of four pages, in a contemporary hand, and contains the instructions the Queen dictated when lying ill at Jedburgh, after the famous ride she took on horseback to visit the Earl of Bothwell at Hermitage Castle. It was likely transcribed by John Lesley, the Bishop of Ross.
