Scope and Contents
Jungersen recommends two books dealing with horses on Iceland and the Faroes. He provides details on the introduction to horses to these places by the Norsemen and Vikings, and cites evidence for various prehistoric horses. He reports that he saw 'Romulus' in the stable of Carl Hagenbeck the previous summer and that he would like to see Ewart's Przewalski's horse 'Sir John'.

Mortensen writes concerning his query about P. phiale, a type of Pourtalesia, which he is trying to identify correctly from Wyville Thomson's description in his 'Memoir on the Echinoidea of the Porcupine Expedition' (1874) and from A. Agasse's report on the Challenger expedition. He asks if Ewart whether the 'Edinburgh Museum' might have a specimen for him to compare with his own.
