Biography
D'Almaine and Co were a firm of music publishers, sellers and instrument makers founded in 1785 by George Goulding and Thomas D'Almaine (c. 1780-1866). The company traded under various names before becoming D'Almaine and Co in 1834. Upon his retirement in 1847, D'Almaine was succeeded by his nephew Thomas MacKinlay who had worked alongside him at the firm for several years. Both D'Almaine and MacKinlay died in 1866 at which point the firm was sold to Joseph Emery who continued the business under the same name, mainly selling pianos.
