Fragment of the song 'Ailean Duinn' collected from Mor Nic Cuinn [Marion MacQueen], aged 79, Tarasaigh/Taransay beginning 'Ail[ein] duinn o hi shiul[ainn] leat, Hi ri ri a bho hi a bho'. The song contains ten lines. The accompanying story explains that Anna nic Dho[mhnuill] ic Iain [Anna Campbell] fell in love with Ailean but the remainder of the text has been deleted and is difficult to make out. Story about Taogai MacCuinn [MacQueen] probably collected from Ranald MacDonald, sheep farmer, Tarasaigh/Taransay, that he lived in Trotarnish, Skye [TrĂ²ndairnis/Trotternish, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye] and that it is from him that all the MacQueen families in Skye and Uibhist/Uist descend. He is described as having been litigious and once put in a plea about corn which was damaged and he got off the charge by saying that the damage was done by seals rolling on the corn.
