Fragment of a story about hidden treasure on Am Muile/Isle of Mull. The story relates to the betrayal by MacLeod of Dunvegan and Maclean of Lochbuie of Hector Odhar Maclean at the Battle of Bloody Bay. When Maclean realised he was betrayed he 'car[r]ied the treasure up & threw it in the well where it is buried. closed up now simply a hollow.'

The story tells how MacKenzie sent a messenger to MacLeod with a letter asking for a date and place to have a battle in Maom Ratagain [Màm Ratagan, Siorramachd Inbhir Nis/Inverness-shire]. Poem beginning 'Gao an iar thar na Feiste, Ceo is uisge' which is described as having been composed by Màiri Nighean Alasdair Ruaidh to the MacDonalds after a meeting at Rodail [Roghadal/Rodel, Na Hearadh/Isle of Harris] at which the MacLeods and MacDonalds quarrelled. A vocabulary note reads 'Foirich = Pestle'. Text has been scored through as if transcribed elsewhere.
