Song entitled 'Alain Airech Ainemeil' or 'Ailein Aighreach Ainmeil' collected from Mary Ghillis [Gilles], Nunton [Baile nan Chailleach, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula], age 60 from Barra [Barraigh]. A note states that it was composed by a woman in South Uist [Uibhist a Deas] to one of the Clanranalds. Text written transversely on folio 27v appears to be another verse for the song. Text has been scored out with a note which reads 'Trans[cribed] Thursday May 6 1869 A. A. C.'

The end of the note reads 'Then Aonas mor mac Raoil ic Ailein. Scope and Contents Story about Eilean or Caisteal Bheagram, telling how it was built by Allan mac Iain mhic Iain Mhuideartich [Allan MacDonald] a brother of Clanranald. He began building at 'Iollan a chaisteal at Fadhail Hough', which he abandoned and then built Caisteal Bheagram. His son, Ranald, lived at Caisteal Bhuirgh [Borve Castle, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula] which according to John mac Eachain was built by Eifirig ni Choinnich. Scope and Contents Story about inheriting Beagram [Caisteal Bheagram/Castle Beagram, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] in which the clan chief gives his son his inheritance of the castle but keeps part of it [possibly Beinn na Faoghla] for himself. During a particularly harsh winter he goes to his son and asks for some bread but his son fights with him and he has to go and get the deeds.
