Scope and Contents This black notebook contains a record of Charles Lyell’s geological travels around Madeira with Georg Hartung, Charles Bunbury, Mary Horner, and Frances Horner. Military Engineer António Pedro d’Azevedo also accompanied them, whilst on the Island. This notebook starts December 22nd, 1853, in Funchal and the Southwest areas of Madeira.
