Instrument of Sasine proceeding on a precept, dated 12th August 1541 by John [Brown], abbot of Sweetheart, in terms of a charter of that date, for infefting Cuthbert Browne, son of the late Thomas Browne, in Lawnis, in the 40s. lands of Lawnis, 20s. lands of Barbeth, and others named, in the barony of Sweetheart, etc. Sasine given, 17th May 1555, by Richard Patonsone, as bailie. Witnesses, Richard Kennan, Mungo Gryse, Nicholas Edgar, William Brown, and others. David Makgee, notary public.
