Scope and Contents Elwes writes that he has written a letter which he would like Ewart to send to The Field, in defence of a statement made by Ewart which involves Elwes. He describes the skins of some cross-bred sheep which he has bought and will send to Ewart.

The letter is undated, although marked 'Tuesday'.

Scope and Contents Alexander thanks Ewart for sending him the pony, and asks his age. He also requests Elwes' address to thank him for sending him one of his papers on sheep. He asks if he thinks Lord Arthur Cecil would join the 'Menagerie Club', as they hope to be able to put on a show and exhibit some hybrids the following year.
