Elwes writes that the (Royal Agricultural) show was a great success and that the King looked at their sheep for longer than the others. Elwes is shortly to have an operation and leaves instructions for Ewart if he wants his sheep returned to him. He also mentions which publications have reviewed their appearance at the show.
The letter is undated, although marked 'Saturday'.

Alexander thanks Ewart for sending him the pony, and asks his age. He also requests Elwes' address to thank him for sending him one of his papers on sheep. He asks if he thinks Lord Arthur Cecil would join the 'Menagerie Club', as they hope to be able to put on a show and exhibit some hybrids the following year.
