Biography
Robert Scott Moncreiff was born in Tullibole Castle near Fossoway on 1 December 1793. He trained in law at Edinburgh University. His wife was Susan Pringle (1796-1840). From around 1830 he served as Chamberlain to the Duke of Buccleuch at Dalkeith Palace. He died in Edinburgh on 18 June 1869.
