Fragment of a verse [possibily a charm] collected from Donald MacPhee, blacksmith, Brèibhig/Breivig, Barraigh/Isle of Barra which reads 'A Sheath[ain] sa Sheath[ain], Toradh coirc Earraghoil toradh coirc Eara'ail' which was composed by Mor ni Dhiarmaid ic Sheathain ic Dhunachai ic Earraghoil [nian] Dhonuil Eoin am Bearnari [Beàrnaraigh/Berneray].

Note collected from Donald MacPhee, blacksmith, Brèibhig/Breivig, Barraigh/Isle of Barra telling how a very small form of cockle [strubain] could be found on Loch Lì on Beinn mhor [Beinn Mhòr, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist]: 'very small but alive as if only embryos'. MacPhee states that the Dall Mòr told him that there was an unnamed plant which grew by Loch Lì, which if even the best-shod horse trod on it, it's horseshoe would fall off. The vocabulary note is for gath, a mast or oar.

Poem entitled 'Moladh Ghoill le Fionn' collected from Donul Mac a Phie [Donald MacPhee], smith, Breubhaig, Barraidh [Brèibhig/Breivig, Barraigh/Isle of Barra] beginning 'Ard aigni Ghoill, fear cogai Fhinn, Laoch leothai lonn fulanach nach tinn.' The poem is composed of fifteeen lines and a transverse note written across the text reads 'Copy sent to the Rev Arch[ibal]d Clerk, Killmallie Manse Jan[uar]y 6th 1869'.

Poem entitled 'Na Brataichean' [The Banners] probably collected from Donald MacPhee, smith, Brèibhig/Breivig, Barraigh/Isle of Barra beginning 'Gad a gheo ri Loch[lannaich] sid, Na bha do mhaoin s do sheisd air Eirin.' The poem is composed of one hundred and eight lines, some of which are written transversely across other text.

The accompanying note states that he heard it 'from Ruari Ruadh mac Cuiein sa Cheanna Tuath (Uist) 50 years ago [c1817]' [Roderick MacQuien, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist].

Song entitled 'Comhail Fhinn Eir Oscar' collected from Donul Mac a Phie [Donald MacPhee], smith, Breuvaig, Barrai[dh] [Brèibhig/Breivig, Barraigh/Isle of Barra] beginning 'A mhic mo mhic se thuirt an righ, Oscair a righ nan og flath.' The song is composed of eighteen lines. The accompanying note states that MacPhee heard this from 'Neal Mac Aonais [Neil Mac Innes] an Cille Bharra coitear. He was a capital reciter. This man's father was the best reciter and piper of his day.'
