Biography

William IV was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and King of Hanover from June 1830 until his death in 1837. He was the third son amongst the fifteen children of George III (1738-1820) and Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818). He succeeded his elder brother George IV to become the last king and penultimate monarch of Britain's House of Hanover.
