Biography

Hugh Edward Baikie was born 18 June 1906 at Ancrum, son of Rev. James. B. Baikie and Constance Newman Smith; educated at Edinburgh George Watson's College 1915-1923, University of Edinburgh and New College 1923-1930, M.A (Hons. History 1927). He was licensed by Presbytery of Dalkeith 14 September 1930, ordained by same Presbytery for Foreign Missionary service at Rajputana 14 September 1930. He married Florence Fuller 18 December 1931, and together they had a son, James Robert, born 29 November 1933. He resigned from his foreign missionary service and was inducted to Kirtle-Eaglesfield 17 Feb 1960. He retired 30 September 1971. He died 28 October 1981.
