Biography
Caroline Louise Lorimer was born to Hannah Stodart (1835-1916) and James Lorimer (1818-1890) in 1861. She attended the University of Edinburgh and earned three certificates in 1882 and 1886. She earned a prize in Geology and gained honours in English Literature, Moral Philosophy and Political Economy in 1886. Caroline Louise, known by family members as 'Louise','CLL' or 'Caro', never married and had no children. She remained at the family home at 1 Brunsfield Crescent for much of her life to care for her parents. She converted to Catholicism in 1914 against her family's wishes.
