Biography

Reinhold Pauli received his education at the Universities of Bonn and Berlin. He received his PhD from the University of Berlin in 1846. He moved to London in 1847, serving as private secretary to Baron von Bunsen, the Prussian Ambassador. He studied History in Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge and London between 1852-1855. He subsequently became Professor of History at the Universities of Rostock, Tübingen, Marburg and Göttingen.

His works include: 'The Life of King Alfred' (1852), 'History of England from the Accession of Henry II to the Death of Henry VII' (1861), 'Pictures of Old England' (1861), and 'Simon de Montfort' (1876).
