Biography
Adam Anderson, Lord Anderson, FRSE (1797 – 1853) was a Scottish judge and Senator of the College of Justice. From 1835 to 1841 he was Sheriff of Perth. He served as Solicitor General for Scotland from 1842 to 1846 and as Lord Advocate from February to May 1852.

The author's name is not given, but the title and chapter headings indicate that this is a Persian translation the Arabic work Tahz̲īb al-akhlāq, (also called Ṭahārat al-nafs) by Abū ‘Alī Aḥmad b. Muḥammad Miskawayh (d. 421 A.H., 1030 C.E.), known as Ibn Miskawayh.
