Biography

Charles Erskine (also spelt Areskine) of Alva, Lord Tinwald (1680-1763), served as a lawyer, judge, law teacher and politician. He was the third son of the 1st Baronet of Alva. He was a profesor of law at the University of Edinburgh in 1707 before becoming an MP in 1722 and later, Lord Advocate in 1737.
