Two versions of tale headed 'Fionnlagh Choinneachain Mac na Bantraich'. Both recorded from Donull MacCuithein [Donald MacQueen], 'Fearann-an-lea' [Fernilea], Isle of Skye. Pages numbered 1-22 and 37-50 combine to form one version, recorded on 1 June 1861. Note on p. 50 states that the reciter heard the story from a miller (Donald MacPhee] in Talisker, Isle of Skye. Pages numbered 23-36 are a version recorded on 21 February 1861, the end of which is found at Coll-97/CW422.

Part of a story entitled 'Fionladh Choinnachain' which starts on folio 9v collected from Donull Mac Cuieag [Donald MacCaig], Fearan an lea, who learnt it more that twenty years before from Donull Mac a Phee [Donald MacPhee], Talamsgeir [Fearann an Leagha/Fernilea and Talaisgeir/Talisker, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye]. The fragment tells how a woman finds her foster-sons and a nobleman leaves all his possessions to his daughter and Fionladh mac na ban-traich.

Scope and Contents Transcription notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael. The majority of the volume has been used but intermittently there are groups of blank folios. Carmichael appears to have written in the book in the 1860s creating sections of different genres at different stages in the volume, with pages left blank in between to fill up appropriately. In about 1875 he has then used some of these blank pages to transcribe notes and stories but has not kept to the genres sections he initially created....
