Twisleton is mentioned in Katherine Lyell's Life Letters and Journals of Sir Charles Lyell 1881 volume 2. He is mentioned in relation to Ticknor, and a 'niece' Ellen Twisleton is quoted as saying that Darwin's theory may prove her to be "first cousin to a turnip (a violet she should have said)".
