Naoroji was the first Indian woman to gain a degree from the University of Edinburgh. She worked as doctor in the Bhuj region.

Photograph of 1906 women graduates in medicine with the signatures of those present. There were two further female MBChB graduates that year: Isabel HILL, Scotland (graduated in absentia) and Marjorie Duake COHEN, India. The graduation ceremony took place on 27 July 1906.
