Story about a battle between two tribes one of which was called 'Clann ic ille ruitich' or 'The Reds' at Tobar an Sùl [An Apainn/Appin] in which The Reds killed the other tribe who were resting. Those killed were buried there in good soil but wolves and foxes dug them up. Probably collected from Donald MacColl [foxhunter, Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire]

Story probably collected from Donald MacColl, [foxhunter, Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] about 'Ban Donullach' who went begging with the young Domhnall nan Òrd [Donald Stewart], then in exile and in disguise, for a year. After she had unsuccessfully tried to pretend to a shoemaker with whom she was lodging that Donald was her son, he gave the boy a free pair of shoes.

Story about church attendance, collected from Donald MacColl, brocair (fox hunter) [Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] in which Captain Stewart and Reverend Mr Wrench forgot to send someone to take Donald to church. He said 'I rely upon my brother & upon God who does not forget the poor for the rich'.

Story probably collected from Donald MacColl, foxhunter, Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire, about about how the young Domhnall nan Òrd [Donald Stewart], while living in exile with the Gobha Mhùideirt or Moidart Smith, was made to fish and did so successfully, twice. He was hidden under a washtub while the Campbells searched for him.

Scope and Contents Story about hunting foxes collected from Donald MacColl [foxhunter, Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire]. In it he tells of a particular hunt in Coire Chaorain [Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] in which a vixen was killed and then her cub was discovered, eyes still unopened and two bullets in its hind legs. He describes how the vixen plays with her cubs all day and goes out at night to hunt mice and frogs and how the fox brings home moles for the cubs to play with 'No creature eats these'....

Scope and Contents Story, probably collected from Donald MacColl, brocair (fox hunter) Glencreran, Argyll [Earra Ghàidheal], about the daughter of [Cameron] of Lochiel, who was married to Campbell of Barcaldine and then married again but was determined her son, Cailean Rua [Cailean Ruadh or Colin Campbell], would have Barcaldine [Am Barra Calltainn, Earra Ghàidheal]. She achieved this by clearing several lands 'unmercifully'. Cailean Ruadh was shot because he was hard on his tenants. When Lochiel's daughter...

Scope and Contents Two stories from the Battle of Culloden collected from Donald MacColl, [foxhunter, Glencreran, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire], about his grandfather, Duncan MacColl who fought with James Stewart of Fasnacloich. The first story tells how James was wounded and that a 'side ball' [bullet] carried away the sheath of his dagger from its hilt. The second story says that while Duncan was going uphill with others they were attacked by MacKenzies and he was wounded. Alexander Stewart of Invernahyle...
