He began building at 'Iollan a chaisteal at Fadhail Hough', which he abandoned and then built Caisteal Bheagram. His son, Ranald, lived at Caisteal Bhuirgh [Borve Castle, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula] which according to John mac Eachain was built by Eifirig ni Choinnich.
