Scope and Contents Field notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael. The marjority of the notebook relates to material collected in Earra GhĂ idheal/Argyllshire but there are a number of loose leaves at the end which contain an account of a journey from Uibhist/Uist through An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye, during which time his wife, Mary is in Edinburgh and is pregnant. Note about the church at Cill a Chaoireal [Cille Choirill], stating that it was built by Gilleaspa Caoireal, that the steeple of the old church was put on the new one and that it was said to be 'the highest stone that ever would be built'. Also notes that Guala Chrosda [Colla Chrosda] was the name of the seer who lived at Bonawe [Bun Abha, Earra GhĂ idheal/Argyllshire].

Prophecy relating to a polished stone made by Guala Chrosda [Colla Chrosda]. The stone is described as being '9 x 1 1/2 [inches] deep' and polished on both sides and the prophecy is that 'No one will get the ulla till nighean dugh a Chlann ic niamhain'.
