Placename etymology for Carnan-an-t-seisir [Càrnan, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay] collected from Ruary an Ruma MacNeil [Roderick MacNeil] aged 88, crofter there telling how about two or four hundred years before [c1660 or 1460] six men from Islay or Jura [Ìle or Diùra, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] landed on the island at Leac Shleite [Bàgh Slèiteadh] following a storm. The body of a drowned woman had been found and so when the locals saw the men on the top of the hill they rushed up and attacked...

Story about a water horse or each-uisge collected from Roderick MacNeil, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay telling how a water horse took a girl away from her house on a Sunday and laid his head on her knee but she cut her apron around him to escape. He came again the following Sunday and carried her off to Creagan-oillt [possibly Creagan Uillt, Barraigh/Isle of Barra] and they were also seen at Glaic an da Bheann [Glaic an Dà Bheann]. Two songs and accompanying story collected from Ruary an Ruma MacNeil [Roderick MacNeil] aged 88, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay. The story tells how 'Seumas Sasunach mac Eoin mhic ogh an Oll[amh] Illeaich' came to Mingulay and stayed for a year at the house of a man who had a very beautiful wife. He poisoned the husband and he and the man's widow decided to marry she being pregnant with his child.
