        Field notebook belonging to Alexander Carmichael. The marjority of the notebook relates to material collected in Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire but there are a number of loose leaves at the end which contain an account of a journey from Uibhist/Uist through An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye, during which time his wife, Mary is in Edinburgh and is pregnant.     Story probably collected from Duncan MacNiven, retired schoolmaster, Airds, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire about the Campbells, blacksmiths at Bonawe [Bun Obha], that the original Campbell came there from Kilmartin [Cille Mhàrtainn], where he had been an apprentice because his master had been jealous of his 'tempering - adhart - binding a sword to hilt'.
