MacLeod of Lewis was a very bad man, who divorced his wife and was related to Am Britheamh Leothasach [Leòdhasach]. The king had sent word to MacLeod of Lewis but MacLeod ignored him and so the king gave the Isle of Lewis to people from Fife. Carmichael appears to have written in the book in the 1860s creating sections of different genres at different stages in the volume, with pages left blank in between to fill up appropriately.
