Ridgeway thanks Ewart for sending him photographs of the Ward's zebra, which he asks permission to mention in his forthcoming survey of zebras. He goes on to discuss the ponies at Garran Point, Ireland that Ewart has mentioned, and cites some classical and historical references to the Irish 'Hobbie' and its debated connection to Spanish breeds imported in the sixteenth century, although Ridgeway feels that this must have occcured earlier.
