Ledermann tells Thomson about the job offer he has received from St Andrews, that of assistant lecturer. He expresses his regret that he will not have much time for research, particularly for work with Thomson, and hopes Thomson won't think him ungrateful. This is an draft of a letter Ledermann sent to Lady Thomson in order to assist her in writing a biography of Thomson. Ledermann discusses how his professional relationship with Thomson commenced, the letters Thomson sent to him, and Thomson's methodology for solving mathematical problems.
