Case summary and correspondence relating to male commercial traveller from south Edinburgh aged 38 at first examination in 1947. Conditions mentioned include: tuberculous empyema, irritating cough, extreme dyspnoea. Surgical treatment given, including artificial pneumothorax, and nonsurgical treatment given. Patient died in hospital.
