School of History, Classics and Archaeology Skills Training for Postgraduate Research Students website
Content Description
A website created as part of a project to expand research training programmes for the School of History, Classics and Archaeology to integrate the use of electronic materials and eLearning methods for postgraduate research students. The project aimed to develop eLearning training modules that provided technical, conceptual, and information-management skills so that both full-time and part-time postgraduates would be better prepared for the academic and non-academic labour market of the 21st century. The training modules include: <list type="marked">
Academic Practice
<list type="marked">
First year review

Literature review
</list>
Practical/technical
<list type="marked">
Working with data
<list type="marked">
An introduction to databases

Database training exercises (MicroSoft Access 2010)

Numeracy

Statistics [not included in archive]

ArcGIS

Mapping (Visualising Urban Geographies)
</list>
Working with images

Palaeography

Oral history
</list>
Professional skills
<list type="marked">
Understanding copyright
</list> </list> This website was taken offline for security purposes and stored locally by Ian Chard. On the request of the Digital Archivist, the website was temporarily deployed to an internal VM requiring VPN access. The website was captured manually from this internal VM using Webrecorder's ArchiveWeb.Page and exported as a WACZ. As mentioned in the 'HCA-Skills-Training-Postgrads-ArchiveWeb-Capture-Scoping_and_Issue_Log', significant amounts of original components had already become obsolete. All external links (off the seed domain) were excluded from this capture. ArchiveWeb.Page had only one error while capturing an embedded PDF. The PDF has been separately downloaded and included with the accession files.
