Charter by Henry and Mary, king and queen of Scots, in favour of Sir John Gordoun of Lochinver, knight, confirming to him a charter dated at Tongland, 20th May 1566, by Alexander, bishop of Galloway, and commendator of the monasteries of Inchaffray and Tongland, granting to Sir John Gordon for 10,000 merks the lands of Nether Barcapil, Kirkconnell, and Blakmark, Larmanoch, Beoch, and others, specially named and valued, the Mains of Tongland, etc., all lying in the parish of Tongland and stewartry of Kirkcudbright: To be held in feu-farm for the separate reddendos stated, amounting in all to £161, 15s. Scots, and with augmentation to £166, 15s. Bailie appointed in precept, John Gordoun in Barnebarocht. Confirmed at Edinburgh, 15th July 1566. Witnesses to bishop's charter, Thomas Makculloch of Cardiness, Roger Gordoun in Kirkconnell, Roger Gordoun in Cule, James Gordoun of Barneboro, and others.
