Scope and Contents

Charter by King James V granting, with consent of John, Duke of Albany, as Regent, to Robert Borthwick and Katherine Borthwick, his spouse, etc., that half of the mains of Ballincrief, formerly occupied by the late James Redheuch in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh and constabulary of Haddington. [In an indorsation the lands are named 'Standthelaw.'] To be held to the grantees in conjoint fee and to their heirs, etc., for services due and wont. Given under the great seal at Edinburgh, 18th June 1522.
