Scope and Contents

Diagrams and notes on three brooches, the first two being described as 'Brooches of Glenorchy belonging to Mrs Crawford wife of - Crawford fisherman Shore St[reet] Oban. One is in perfect order - big one the other is altered to modern style in the tongue'. The third brooch is described as 'Glenorchy brooch of Miss Keith at Port Kearara Oban - From her mother Mrs Keith of Acha-bhathaich near Saulmore. Oban.' [Gleann Urchaidh/Glenorchy, An t-Òban, Port Kerrera, Achadh a' Bhàthaich/Achavaich, Sabhal Mòr, all Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] The three diagrams are made up of two concentric circles each, the inner circle being much smaller than the outer circle. The first diagram bears the initials 'A. V. M. A.' and date '1730', the second, 'A. C. 1773' and the third 'T Mc N. [V] K. M. I. 1780'.
