Scope and Contents
Story entitled 'Eilean Gaineacha'. The story tells of how a man, in avoiding a 'black spot', comes across the island, which has a large ford running through it and a stack of fish bones on either side of the ford. He decides that she should have some fortune for discovering the place and that he will return on his way back from England. He could not find it and took others to look for it but all they found was rock. The man was mocked and they called the rock Rockall.
