Biographical / Historical
Waddington served on the Committee on the Hazards to Man of Nuclear and Allied Radiation (also known as the Himsworth Committee after its Chair, Sir Harold Himsworth), which was appointed in April 1955 by the Medical Research Council 'to review the existing scientific evidence on the medical aspects of nuclear and allied radiations, including the genetic aspects'. Its report, in June 1956, was a major contribution to the national and international discussions that ultimately led to the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
