These papers consist of correspondence, mostly relating to Louisa Matilda Crawford but with some miscellaneous items, and have been grouped into three sub-series:

The majority of the items were created within Louisa's lifetime or in the first half of the nineteenth century, however, one letter referring to her retrospectively dates from 1930, hence the breadth of the inclusive dates.
