Autograph letter, signed, from Sir Walter Scott to Francis Jeffrey, 8 April 1805
Scope and Contents
One-page autograph letter signed ("Walter Scott"), to Francis Jeffrey, quarto, Ashistul by Selkirk, 8 April 1805 (fold marks). Explaining that he was unable to send Fleetwood earlier due to "such a variety of things to put to rights about my farm". He hopes "he may relieve your mind and fingers from the task of purveying for the Baillies Devils" and also sends "the work on which the necesaary references are marked." In the second paragraph Scott writes "I wish Mrs Jeffery & you could look this way for a few days - the country is delightful...Will you write and let me know what the clergy are about and whether the providing letter has produced a great sensation."
