Scope and Contents
Reproduction of an oil painting 'Panoramic view of Ghent, 1534', artist unknown. Represents a topographical view of the city of Ghent and its environs as it appeared prior to the momentous changes wrought on the city on the orders of Emperor Charles V. Hand coloured. Main inscription reads "Ganda Galliae Belgicae Civitas Maxima". Inscription on strapwork cartouche, held by two winged putti carrying heraldic shields, inscribed left hand side "Vlanderen", and on the right hand side "Ghent".
