Biographical / Historical

Karl Lossen 1841-1893 wrote to Sir Archibald Geikie about geological maps he has produced for the Harz mountains and on his own findings in that area. He also commented on work done by RĂ©nard on granite and slate and on compared research being done in the Britain, Germany and Scandanavia. Due to health reasons and a heavy workload he excused himself from taking part in the 1888 geological congress.
