Drawing of Joseph Kerr by a Polish Soldier, 1943
Scope and Contents
Signed pencil drawing of Joseph Kerr, from the 67th Field Regiment R. A., British North Africa Forces, done by a Polish soldier in 1943. It shows a portrait of Kerr with a North African landscape in the background, and it is signed by the author with the note '43. Souvenir: Polish soldier in north Africa'. Kerr has added the note 'I wish the background was Bonnie Galloway' in pencil on the side.
It is drawn on airgraph letter paper, and was destined to be sent to Kerr's mother in Wigtownshire, Scotland, however it is not stamped and was probably never sent. There is her address at the top, and the drawing is signed 'From Your Loving Son, Joe. xx'.
