Scope and Contents

"Occupation: None. Rate-aided patient. Diagnosis: Idiocy (deaf and dumb mute). Admitted to CRI. Patient is said to be an eight months child. At 2 years it was noticed that he was not learning to walk or speak. At 2 years, 7 months walked. Cannot use hands except for light mechanical work e.g. turning hay. Obeys simple signs but cannot understand spoken or written language, or deaf and dumb alphabet. Can hear certain loud sounds, but cannot hear human voice, and cannot say words, Appears alos to be short-sighted. Father dead. Mother said to be all right."
