"This child won't speak. Only child, delicate and shy, not used to other children. Father an estate worker. Mother very bright. [Female informant] speaking now, backward because she has not been at school, very poor attendance. Has a bad ear. Clean, not overcrowded. [Male informant] any dullness will be on the father's side."
