Scope and Contents

"This man is alcoholic at times but has only once appeared in court for being drunk in charge of a car. He has a violent temper and is at times depressed. Has "persecution mania". Alternates between charm and savage antagonism. First wife died sometime in the 1930s. Second wife died of cancer. Since then he has had a series of housekeepers, one of whom is thought to have had a child by him. For the last 3-4 years he has lived alone and has got slovenly in his appearance. Seen by PSW - Spare elderly man dressed in dirty working clothes. Friendly and interested in the survey, obviously lonely and anxious to have someone to talk to. Talked very rapidly, almost like music hall patter, occasionally running words together or blurring them. House remarkably clean considering."
