"Peculiar, likes being alone, does not speak to anybody. Was a draper but was so sarcastic that his business fell away and he had to close donwn. Lived in one room with his sister, she is now dead. Brought up to do nothing for themselves. Shellshocked in the last war. Still dresses in the old tradition with a bowler hat and long moustaches. Spends his time now on his allotment and with his bees. Was supposed to marry whenever the woman's brother died - but she is now dead. He shouts and curses in his room at night and disturbs the neighbours."
