Scope and Contents
"Speech defect, low intelligence but not MD. D and E in all subjects except handwork. Father, 50, a ploughman, mentally defective. Mother 38-40, man daft. Queer family, mentally defective. Mother has twice left her family. Dirty and overcrowded ++. [Male informant says they are a hopeless crowd of MD's. The least wee thing would send the mother off, bad-tempered."
