Scope and Contents

"This man, a gardener, lives alone and is odd, ready to take offence at anything e.g. won't shake the minister's right hand if he did not like the sermon, but will shake his left; loves criticising his sermons very out-spokenly. He is a batchelor, has had strong views about woman since he was jilted in early manhood. Dr thinks this man is pretty cute, very keen on making money, very religious. He inherited money (something fishy about the death of his aunt but Dr says he had nothing to do with it). He is now doing very nicely."
