Scope and Contents

"Diagnosis: Melancholia. "I found no psychiatric abnormality after my interview with your patient and in my opinion he is fit to resume his employment. He tells me that he was treated for pneumonia. He states that the ward sister warned him he had enlarged root glands and that he might take tuberculosis of the lungs. Not unnaturally worried over this he went off his sleep and became depressed. It seems to me that this depressive state was a not unreasonable reaction to his worry. He states that he has regained his normal weight, that he is sleeping soundly and that he has been entirely reassured regarding the absence of tuberculosis"."
